York County Commissioners will meet with department heads, elected officials, to discuss budget requests, concerns and needs

​YORK – As the process of formulating the county budget for the 2026-27 fiscal year is underway, the York County Commissioners have invited all the department heads and elected officials to appear on Tuesday, to discuss their funding needs.
Each will talk about what their needs and concerns are – this will be done in a public forum as the commissioners have said they would like to provide more transparency for the public “so taxpayers know where their dollars are going and for what.”
This will take place at the end of the regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 4.
Also during Tuesday’s meeting:

• The board will hear the annual update from the Nebraska Association of County Officials, as provided by Luke Bonkiewicz.
• The board will act regarding designating the method of meeting notices.
• The interlocal agreement with District 5 Probation, pertaining to the problem solving court, will be considered.
• District 5 Probation Director Carrie Rodriguez will make her annual report.
• The board will consider a resolution in which Barb Koester would be appointed and John Prussia and Becky Green would be reappointed to the York County Aging Services Advisory Board.
• A conversation will be held regarding the assignment of signers for the checking account belonging to the veterans’ advisory board.
• A special designated liquor license, filed by Blended Distilling, will be considered for an event on Aug. 29.
• The county inventory will be presented for the fiscal year.

The public is invited to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., in the county commissioners’ meeting room, which is located on the main floor of the courthouse, next to the clerk’s office.
