YORK – York County Public Transportation has started the process toward getting a new van for the fleet. Lori Byers, transportation director, met with the York County Commissioners this past week to discuss the matter.
“It’s that time of year again when we put in our requests with the Nebraska Department of Transportation,” Byers explained. “We need to replace the ADA-compliant low-floor van.” She said the cost will likely be $77,000. The NDOT carries the majority of the cost with the county also responsible for a portion. That portion has already been included in the Busy Wheels budget. “This is just the first step in the process,” Byers said. “Upon board approval, we will put out the notice.” The commissioners voted in favor of her proceeding.
