YORK – York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka, as the Nebraska Sheriffs Association president, was in attendance for the recent unveiling of Secure the Good Life, which is a tool to help in the recruitment of law enforcement and prosecution talent. Joining him were Nebraska Police Officer Association President Paul Graham and Nebraska Police Chief Association President Bryan Waugh.
The event was sponsored by the Nebraska Attorney General’s office. Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers along with numerous leaders and statewide organizations unveiled SecureTheGoodLife.Nebraska.gov during a press conference on Thursday. The website shares real stories told by county attorneys, police chiefs and sheriffs serving in Greater Nebraska communities. It also links to available job openings in law enforcement and prosecution careers through the Nebraska Crime Commission and the Nebraska County Attorneys Association. “We have amazing public servants making a real difference, and we have opportunities for others to join them. The Secure the Good Life site will help elevate their stories and show others how they can do it too,” Hilgers said. “This effort will be an important part of our strategic, statewide effort to recruit the next generation of law enforcement professionals.” Since taking office, Hilgers traveled across the state and met with law enforcement and county attorneys in all 93 counties. In 2024, he and his staff hosted regional roundtable discussions. During those meetings, they heard from many agencies who expressed challenges in recruiting across Greater Nebraska. Hilgers hopes the new website will amplify the high calling of those serving in law enforcement and cast a vision for those who would consider public service. Comments are closed.
