BRADSHAW – The York County Sheriff’s Office, along with assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol, York Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation is investigating an early morning bank robbery at the Cornerstone branch in Bradshaw. At approximately 8 a.m., Wednesday, April 1, deputies responded to a 911 call from the bank regarding a robbery. First responders from the Bradshaw Fire Department and York Rescue were also dispatched upon the report a woman had sustained a head injury at the bank.
YSO Captain Josh Gillespie says “preliminary investigations reveal a lone man entered the establishment and approached the bank employees while demanding an undisclosed amount of cash.” Regarding the woman who was injured, Captain Gillespie said the bank worker was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, he is unable to elaborate further regarding that situation. “The suspect fled the scene in a stolen vehicle which was then believed to be used to drive to an additional vehicle located out in the country a short distance from the crime scene,” Captain Gillespie said. “The stolen vehicle was located within minutes of officers arriving.” The suspect is described as 5’8”, wearing a mask, dark navy coat, black pants and black shoes. Captain Gillespie said surveillance footage images will be released at a later time. Investigators are currently reviewing additional surveillance videos from neighboring businesses and residences. “The York County Sheriff’s Office would appreciate the public’s assistance in obtaining any additional information which may have been seen at 8 a.m., on April 1, in the Bradshaw area,” Captain Gillespie said. If someone has information, they can call the YSO at 402-362-4927, option 1; or call Crime Stoppers at 402-362-2999. “The York County Sheriff’s Office is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our community through professional service and proactive law enforcement. We would like to thank the York Police Department, the state patrol, the FBI, Hitz Towing and Cornerstone Bank for their assistance in the case.
