YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office has been invited to participate in an impaired driving event hosted by the National Safety Council and AAA, which will be held in Omaha. The event is a “wet lab,” explains Sgt. Taylor Samek, “where we will be dosing volunteers with alcohol, having them drive in a driving simulator, and performing standardized field sobriety tests on them. This event serves as a launch for the holiday traffic enforcement campaign of Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.”
He said this “provides a unique and educational opportunity for attendees to witness firsthand how impairment affects motor skills, judgment and reaction time. It aims to promote safer choices and reduce alcohol-related crashes on Nebraska roads.” The event will be held Friday, Dec. 19, between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m., at the National Safety Council office at 3111 Oak View Drive in Omaha. Comments are closed.
