YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office recently participated in the statewide “Click It or Ticket” enforcement campaign, focusing on seat belt compliance, safe driving practices and roadway safety. During the enforcement period, deputies made contact with 15 motorists, resulting in multiple enforcement actions and two arrests. Deputies issued citations for failing to move over for a stopped emergency vehicle, careless driving and speeding, as well as one citation for failing to wear a seat belt, which was the primary focus of the campaign.
Sgt. Taylor Samek also said during the enforcement effort, “deputies conducted a traffic stop which led to a felony arrest. The driver was arrested on charges of possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony, possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), obstructing a peace officer, resisting arrest and no valid registration. Deputies also arrested one individual for driving under the influence of drugs. “The enforcement period was cut short due to deteriorating weather conditions. As roadways became hazardous, deputies were redirected to respond to multiple weather-related crashes and slide-offs throughout the county,” Sgt. Samek explained. “The York County Sheriff’s Office remains committed to promoting roadway safety and encourages all motorists to buckle up, drive attentively and slow down during hazardous conditions.” Comments are closed.
