YORK -- Thanks to funding from the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office, the York County Sheriff's Office was able to conduct an extra patrol campaign on Super Bowl Sunday. YSO Sgt. Taylor Samek said extra deputies were on patrol at that time, specifically watching for impaired drivers.
"During that time, the YSO contacted 24 motorists, resulting in two arrests for driving under the influence and four citations for speeding," Sgt. Samek said. "A drug influence evaluation was also conducted by a drug recognition expert for a neighboring agency." Sgt. Samek says all drivers are encouraged to report impaired drivers, by calling the YSO at 402-362-4927. Comments are closed.
