YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office recently applied for and received grant funding through the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office’s Special Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). This is the third year in a row the YSO has received funding through this program.
This funding is for selective overtime enforcement and education in the areas of impaired driving, occupant protection, speed, distracted driving and general traffic enforcement. The initiative will allow the YSO to have additional deputies out conducting traffic enforcement in the communities throughout the year. It will also help with bringing educational programs concerning traffic-related issues to area schools, businesses and community groups. Sgt. Taylor Samek adds, “If you are a representative of an area school, business or community group and would like a presentation from the York County Sheriff’s Office on a traffic-related issue, feel free to contact us at 402-362-4927.” Comments are closed.
