YORK – Sergeant Taylor Samek, Deputy Brandon Huebner and Deputy Deion Hulse from the York County Sheriff’s Office have been recognized with a MADD Hero Award for their DUI enforcement efforts in 2025. This recognition from Mothers Against Drunk Driving reflects the YSO’s commitment to keeping impaired drivers off roadways and protecting the communities they serve.
During the year, the enforcement efforts of these three individuals resulted in:
“Impaired driving continues to be one of the leading causes of serious injury and fatal crashes. Proactive enforcement is not about writing tickets or making arrests — it's about preventing tragedies before they happen and protecting innocent lives,” the YSO said in a statement. Sgt. Samek added, "In addition to being recognized, we also had the opportunity to hear from several family members of victims who lost their lives to impaired drivers. It was some of the most impactful testimony I have heard regarding the aftermath of losing a family member in an impaired driving crash. It definitely sent the message home that a decision to drive impaired by drugs or alcohol can have lifelong devasting effects on a family." Comments are closed.
