York County Sheriff’s Office will participate in sober driving campaign

​YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office will be participating in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign from Aug. 21 to Sept. 7.
Last year, Nebraska recorded 38 alcohol-involved fatalities (accounting for 16.4% of all traffic fatalities) and alcohol was involved in more than 15% of all crashes statewide, said Sgt. Taylor Samek with the York County Sheriff’s Office (YSO).
“Additionally, law enforcement agencies cited over 8,000 drivers for DUI in 2025,” Sgt. Samek said further. “Our goal is to make sure everyone makes it to their holiday plans alive. York County will have extra deputies out looking for impaired drivers on roadways throughout the county. This overtime enforcement campaign is done in conjunction with funding provided by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office.
