YORK COUNTY – The county’s one- and six-year road/bridge program has been approved for 2025. This is a list of prioritized projects for this construction season and then into the future.
There are three projects on this year’s plan, which will be undertaken by the county’s road crew:
York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier noted there were fewer projects on the one-year program. Keim said that will allow roads department crews to do more maintenance work “and we can always pull some of the six-year projects up if we need to. This will allow us to do more maintenance projects.” Keim also said bridges listed in the future plan are not in dire need of replacement at this time, but they have been prioritized in anticipation of when that day will come. “It’s a matter of funding as well.” “In the past, we have talked about Road O to the ethanol plant,” Obermier said. “Have we done any patching there?” “That road is on the six-year plan,” Keim said. “The patches we put in are holding and we will have to deal with that sometime. Yesterday, I was told there were 16 trucks parked there. I’ll get a better idea this spring when the frost is gone, of what we will need to do.” “We have a few more years until we pay off the bond and we can do major work again when we redo the bond,” Obermier added. Commissioner LeRoy Ott asked about Delaware Avenue, in the county’s jurisdiction, to Highway 34, “because the edges are falling apart” and it is already a narrow roadway with no shoulders. Keim said that could be addressed in the future, maybe as a project which can be done in conjunction with city projects in that nearby area. “There is a lot of traffic on that road,” Ott added. The commissioners voted in favor of accepting the one- and six-year road/bridge program as presented. Comments are closed.
