York Police, York County Sheriff’s Department represent at funeral for NSP trooper lost in the line of duty

York County Sheriff’s Deputy Jordan Dickson and York Police Sgt. Ben Rodenborg represented York County on Thursday during the procession and funeral honoring Nebraska State Patrol Trooper Kyle McAcy, who gave his life in the line of duty on Feb. 17.

“On behalf of the state of Nebraska, I simply want to say thank you for sharing your hero with the people of our great state,” said Governor Jim Pillen, addressing Trooper McAcy’s family at the funeral service. “I am incredibly proud of him for how he represented our state.”
Trooper McAcy joined the Nebraska State Patrol in 2014 as part of the 56th Basic Recruit Class, graduating on May 1, 2015. He began his career in North Platte, working as a part of the Carrier Enforcement Division. From there, he transferred home to Omaha, continuing his work with commercial vehicle enforcement. In 2022, Trooper McAcy joined the Troop A Patrol Division where he worked to keep roadways safe and help those in need across the Omaha metro and surrounding counties. At every stage of his career, Trooper McAcy brought joy and laughter to everyone around him, the patrol said.
“If you didn’t know Kyle, let me give you a little glimpse of Kyle, the trooper. He loved his job. He was an extravert, and he loved people.” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “If you tried to keep pace with his hunger for work or conversation, you would finish a tired second place.”
Hundreds of law enforcement officers from around Nebraska and the entire nation attended today’s service, including troopers from more than 20 states – including those from York County.
Trooper McAcy is survived by his parents, Teresa and Kevin McAcy; brother Collin (Briana) McAcy; sister Bethany McAcy (Garrett Perry); and fiancé Spencer Ryan. He is preceded in death by both sets of grandparents.
The Nebraska State Patrol will continue Trooper McAcy’s legacy by joining his family in asking, “What would Kyle do?”
As said by NSP spokes person, Cody Thomas, “Trooper McAcy served the state of Nebraska with a passion for service and a love for all who crossed his path. The Nebraska State Patrol wishes to extend gratitude to all who have sent support to his family, friends and colleagues after this tragic loss.”
All law enforcement agencies, all first responders and all of Nebraskans thank Trooper McAcy for his service and mourn his loss.
