Notice of Special Recall Election by Mail for LeRoy Ott, Jr., York County Commissioner District 2 on December 9, 2025

Ballots will be automatically mailed between November 17 and November 26 to all registered voters within York County’s Commissioner District 2.
        
Deadline for online, DMV, and mailed-in voter registrations is Friday, November 21.

Deadline for in-person voter registration is Monday, December 1, at 6 p.m. Anyone who registers after this date will be ineligible for this special election. 

Registered voters wishing to vote in the special election but who will be absent from their residence during that time may make arrangements with the Clerk’s Office at 510 N Lincoln Ave York, NE 68467, or call 402-362-7759, opt. 5. 

The use of a ballot marking device will be available in the Clerk’s Office.

Voter Registration Qualifications

• Age – to register to vote, you must be 18 years old. If you are 17 years old and will be 18 by the first Tuesday following the first Monday in November of an election year, you can register.
• Residence – To register, you must be a resident of Nebraska and of the county where you are registering. If you move to another county, you must re-register.
• Citizenship – You must be a United States citizen in order to register to vote. 
• Felony Conviction – If you have been convicted of a felony, either in Nebraska or another state or in federal court, you cannot register to vote until after completion of your sentence, including any parole term.
• Mentally Incompetent (Non compos mentis) – If you have been found by a court to be mentally incompetent, you cannot register to vote.

You may register in person through the State Department of Motor Vehicles when applying for or renewing your driver’s license.  There are deadlines to register to vote as an election nears. Contact the office for further details.

​The first election requiring photo ID will be the May 14, 2024 statewide primary election. For information regarding the new voter identification law and its requirements, please visit the Nebraska Secretary of State’s website: https://sos.nebraska.gov/elections/voter-id

How to check if you're a registered voter

• The quickest way to check if you're a registered voter in Nebraska is to visit the Nebraska Voter Information Lookup website. You will need to enter your name and the county you believe you are registered in. If your voter registration is not associated with the county in which you currently reside, you will need to complete a new voter registration. https://www.votercheck.necvr.ne.gov/voterview/

About Nebraska’s New Voter ID Law

Nebraska’s voter ID law (LB514) requires all registered Nebraska voters to present a photo* identification (ID) when voting in an election in Nebraska. 

Every election in Nebraska requires voter ID.
