YORK – Many people attended Thursday night’s informational open house at the Holthus Convention Center, where they were able to see proposed plans for the continuation of four lanes of Highway 81 from York to Columbus. 

WACO – The York County Sheriff’s Department has released information regarding an earlier shooting in Waco and the subsequent arrest of a 60-year-old man. 

YORK COUNTY – Those who want to participate in the 2024 Primary Election, who aren’t already registered voters, are encouraged to do so with the York County Clerk’s office/election office. 

YORK COUNTY – The York County Commissioners continued their detailed conversation about zoning regulations for solar projects this past week, before a packed house with many people in attendance. 

YORK COUNTY – York County District Court Clerk Sharilyn Steube says an increased effort in her office, to collect old court costs, fines and restitution, has already brought in more than $22,000.

YORK COUNTY – “As you know, I’ve been very involved with LB1067, which, if it passed, would eliminate inheritance tax,” York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier said this week during the regular meeting of the York County Board. “I’ve testified against the bill as that revenue has historically been very important to counties and state lawmakers need to find a way to replace that revenue if they take it away. Last week, there were five hours of debate on the floor (of the legislature). It’s been pulled off now, I’m not sure if it will come back. Our state senator’s name is still on the bill (with 24 others), but she has said she’s not for it unless they come with a way to replace that revenue.”

YORK COUNTY – Several years ago, York County officials agreed to participate in a grant program intended to assist in owner-occupied housing rehabilitation. The $500,000 grant program consisted of state funds as well as county participation by way of a local match.

YORK COUNTY – The York County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the 24-year-old man who died of his injuries sustained in a forklift accident near Benedict on Tuesday. 

YORK COUNTY – York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka is urging heightened awareness on local roads, “now that it’s been so warm out, will consistently be nicer out and the farmers are getting out there, doing their thing, at this time of year.”
