York County Sheriff’s Department releases name of man killed in forklift accident near Benedict3/7/2024
YORK COUNTY – The York County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the 24-year-old man who died of his injuries sustained in a forklift accident near Benedict on Tuesday. Lt. Alex Hildebrand said the deceased was identified as Ponciano Nimaja-Gutierrez from Guatemala. Sheriff Paul Vrbka said his office received word Thursday morning that next of kin had been notified; therefore they could release his name to the public.
On Tuesday, deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Department and first responders were dispatched to a workplace accident near the intersection of Road 22 and Road H in York County, according to Sheriff Lt. Alex Hildebrand. “Upon arrival it was determined Nimaja-Gutierrez was accidentally run over by a forklift. He was transported to York General Hospital by the York Fire Department, later being taken by helicopter to Bryan LGH West in Lincoln where he was pronounced deceased.” No other details have been released by the sheriff’s department.
