​YORK – District 24 State Senator Jana Hughes met with the York County Commissioners this week, to talk about their concerns and future legislative issues. 

​YORK COUNTY – The York County Commissioners took care of some budgeted fund transfers this week, when they met in regular session. 

YORK – The York County Commissioners have approved a $30,000 grant from the York County Visitors Improvement Fund for work the City of York will conduct at the York soccer fields near the fairgrounds. 

YORK COUNTY -- The York County Sheriff’s Department participated in the “Buckle Up. Every Trip. Every Time” campaign sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office (NDOT-HSO) from November 22-26. Extra deputies were out on patrol specifically looking for seatbelt violations on the roadways in York County, said Sergeant Taylor Samek. 

​YORK – The York County Commissioners’ agenda for Tuesday, Nov. 28, includes the consideration of a number of agreements pertaining to a number of different purposes.

​YORK COUNTY – During this past week’s York County Commissioners’ meeting, the issue of paying for inmate expenses, for people being detained at the York County Jail, were again addressed.

​YORK COUNTY – The York County Commissioners voted to strike a parcel from the tax rolls after all attempts to collect personal property tax have been exhausted and it has been deemed as uncollectible. 

YORK – York County’s health insurance program will stay with Medica in the 2023-24 fiscal year. The good news for employees is two-fold: they will see stability in staying with the same provider and they will not be affected by the 5 ½% increase in cost. 

YORK – The York County Commissioners opened bids this week for a fencing project which will provide a secure barrier around an expanded area being used by the county roads department. 

​YORK – The York County Commissioners agreed with courthouse maintenance director Cal Friesen that they will go back out for bids, in the spring, for a construction project that will expand the size of the garage area on the south side of the courthouse.
