York County Sheriff’s Department made 32 contacts during extra patrol campaign over Thanksgiving11/29/2023
YORK COUNTY -- The York County Sheriff’s Department participated in the “Buckle Up. Every Trip. Every Time” campaign sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office (NDOT-HSO) from November 22-26. Extra deputies were out on patrol specifically looking for seatbelt violations on the roadways in York County, said Sergeant Taylor Samek. “During this time, deputies made one felony arrest, two DUI/drug arrests and had a total of 32 traffic contacts,” Sergeant Samek said. “We are happy to report seatbelt compliance was high in York County with minimal citations issued for seatbelt or child restraint violations. Our office also responded to three motor vehicle collisions during this time frame and all occupants were properly using seatbelts or child restraints. We would like to thank you for doing your part in making sure all family members arrived at Thanksgiving celebrations, unharmed.”
