YORK – Criminal investigator Nolan Janzen has been named as York County Sheriff’s Deputy of the Year.
YORK – Corrections Officer Kasey Thomas has been named the employee of the quarter by the York County Sheriff’s Office.
YORK – York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka is warning residents about a current scam in which criminals are calling individuals in York County, saying they are deputies with the York County Sheriff’s Office.

YORK – Rex Rasmussen of York was recognized this week by the York County Sheriff’s Office – at the start of the York County Commissioners’ meeting – for his heroic action in assisting a deputy in apprehending a suspect.
YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office recently participated in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over traffic safety grant, aimed at reducing impaired driving and increased roadway safety during the holiday season. The grant enforcement period ran from Dec. 11 through Jan. 1.
OMAHA – The York County Sheriff’s Office recently participated in a “holiday wet lab,” an event provided by the Nebraska Chapter of the National Safety Council and AAA Nebraska.
YORK – The York Public Schools fifth graders got a fun treat this week when they were surprised by the York County Sheriff’s Office.
YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office has been invited to participate in an impaired driving event hosted by the National Safety Council and AAA, which will be held in Omaha.
YORK – Sergeant Tanner Kritzek has been named the Employee of the Quarter, for the third quarter of the year, for 2025, for the York County Sheriff’s Office.
This is awarded to a sheriff’s office employee whose conduct over the evaluation period is deserving of recognition, Sheriff Paul Vrbka says. “The nomination for this award is primarily based on consistent high performance in job duties, exceeding performance expectations, outstanding customer service, remarkable leadership or significant contributions to a case or project.” Sgt. Krizek was nominated by multiple employees within the department who all commented on his exceptional leadership abilities. “Sergeant Krizek is the embodiment of the phrase, ‘service over self’ by frequently putting the needs of his subordinates over his own.” Many of the nominators commented how they feel “valued, supported and included by Sgt. Krizek as he is never to too busy to help them with their needs. He picks up overtime shifts to help cover time off for others and “steps into different roles to help our deputies with their training needs. Additionally, he maintains a high level of productivity and prioritizes traffic safety enforcement along the roadways of York County. He led our agency during the quarter with traffic stops for careless driving, child restraint violations and individuals driving more than 30 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. “During this quarter, Sergeant Krizek completed all four phases of training to become a certified traffic accident reconstructionist, which is a certification which will drastically help our agency complete complex crash investigations,” the YSO said further. “He also successfully obtained his certification as a pepperball instructor and recertification as a taser instructor. Outside of our agency, he routinely assistance the Nebraska Law Enforcement training Center as a guest instructor for traffic stops where he helps train new law enforcement officers from across the state. Our agency is blessed to have Sgt. Krizek on our staff and we appreciate his dedication to our agency.” |
