YORK COUNTY – A list provided by the York County Assessor’s office shows the county currently has 164 property tax exempt properties. These have been approved, in the past, as being exempt because they are used for religious, educational and/or philanthropic purposes.
These will be presented to the York County Commissioners during their next meeting, as they convene as the board of equalization. York County Assessor Kurt Bulgrin said he will be recommending the vast majority continue to be tax exempt – with the exception of 12 parcels owned by Grace Children’s Home. These parcels are located in Henderson. He recently told the county board he has received multiple calls/had multiple conversations with concerned taxpayers who say these properties are no longer used in the same way they had been, in the past, and they should be placed on the tax rolls. He will be recommending denial of tax exemption. He will also be bringing forward some partial exemption recommendations for certain properties where, as an example, a portion of space at a church is being rented out for private office space or revenue-generating private sector childcare. The following list is the current list of exempt property owners which will be presented to the commissioners for consideration:
