Commissioners to hold first meeting of the new year

YORK – The York County Commissioners will be holding their first meeting of the new calendar year on Tuesday, Jan. 9. 

​During that meeting, they will hear a report from Laura McDougall, director of the Four Corners Health Department. Four Corners typically makes its annual report to the county board in January.
They will also discuss and act on authorizing the board chairman to sign emergency declarations and closures of the courthouse, when conditions are warranted.
The board will consider a sub-lease agreement with York County Mutual Aid and Verizon. This pertains to space that will be leased to Verizon on the county-owned communications tower near McCool Junction. The leasing agreement is between mutual aid and the company, but the matter will still come before the commissioners because of the county ownership.
A housing project grant, as part of the county’s owner-occupied rehabilitation program, will be considered.
The commissioners will make their quarterly visit of the jail.
They will also adapt a resolution for the 2024 911 surcharge.
As the board of equalization, they will consider an application from York University for the tax exemption of a 2012 GMC Terrain vehicle.
The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will begin at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners’ chambers located on the main floor of the courthouse next to the clerk’s office.
