County’s housing rehabilitation project a great success, all grant funds will be utilized

YORK – Enough homeowner-occupied housing rehabilitation projects have been approved to deplete the county’s ongoing program. That means all the grant funds will be used up.

​“The program was set to phase out next month, but the last push to get information out there worked in having more people apply and more projects to be approved,” explained York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier, during this past week’s meeting of the county board. “So early next month, the deadline will arrive for applications. But we will need to extend the program for a year so the granted applicants will be able to complete the work. SENDD officials said they have enough projects in the pipeline to utilize all the funds.”

The program has allowed a good number of housing projects to be completed in the county, for qualified homeowners. The intent was to utilize the grant funds to improve existing housing – which it did.

The commissioners agreed to extend the program for a year, in order for the already-accepted projects to be completed.
