Diversion programs to headline this week’s meeting of York County Commissioners

YORK – With a relatively light agenda for Tuesday, Dec. 12, two topics headlining the meeting for the York County Commissioners will be in regard to diversion programs. 

​The conversation will continue as to whether an adult diversion program should be created in York County. Right now, the county has a juvenile diversion program, but not one for adults.
The commissioners were approached about the idea by the county attorney’s office and juvenile diversion officer Tristan Perry last fall, as the budget process was coming to a close. They did not include funding for the program in this year’s budget, but said they would continue talking about it.
Regarding juvenile diversion, an interlocal agreement has been proposed with Polk County which would allow York County juvenile diversion officers to also work with young people in that county. That will be revisited Tuesday.
Also on this week’s agenda:

• A lease agreement with York County Mutual Aid will be considered.
• The board members will talk about recommendations from the technology committee about changing providers for internet/phone services.

The public is always encouraged to attend the meeting, which will start at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners’ meeting room which is located on the main floor of the courthouse, next door to the clerk’s office.
