YORK COUNTY – “It’s that time of year again where farmers are irrigating and we have to remind them to make sure they aren’t watering the roadways,” says Deputy York County Attorney Christopher Johnson. And to remind them that if they do and it damages the road, that is a felony.” Besides damaging the roads, excessive watering of roadways can also create traffic hazards and the potential of accidents.
“It is illegal to allow your pivot to water the road and we are asking farmers to just remember that,” Johnson said. “Deputies with the sheriff’s department have been out looking at these (where there have been problems) and they have issued citations to a few. They have also working to talk with a few others,” Johnson said. “Please, just double check to make sure your pivots aren’t creating any damage to the roads. Please, just make sure you are complying with state laws.” Comments are closed.
