Levies for political subdivisions to be set next week

YORK – The levies for the different political subdivisions in the county will be officially set next Tuesday, Oct. 3, when the York County Commissioners meet in regular session. 

​The commissioners will adopt the resolutions as the board of equalization.
The different subdivisions include the villages, cities, school districts, Southeast Community College, ag society, Upper Big Blue Natural Resource District, etc.
This happens every year at this time, after the different subdivisions have created and approved their own budgets and determined their own levies.
Also on Tuesday’s agenda:

• The commissioners will consider an interlocal agreement with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Extension.
• They will considering signing the county’s transportation operating assistance agreement to span 2023-2025.
• A lease agreement will be considered with the ag society, as it pertains to the fairgrounds.
• They will consider a resolution outlining distribution of transfer money to the Area on Aging, 911 Emergency Management Fund and Road Fund – as it done each year t this time.

The public is encouraged to attend the meeting, which will be held at 8:30 a.m., in the commissioners’ meeting room which is located next to the clerk’s office on the main floor of the courthouse. Interested persons can also watch/listen online.
