YORK – Dustin Marvel, a government and community relations/public affairs strategist for the Omaha Public Power District (OPPD), provided an update for the county commissioners, regarding a recent community meeting held in McCool Junction, to talk with community members about the proposed solar field project in that part of the county. “The purpose of the meeting was to talk with the community and encourage interaction between all of us as we move forward,” Marvel said. “It lasted about two hours and it was a healthy conversation where all viewpoints were gathered.”
He said OPPD representatives are currently going through all the comments and questions made during that meeting, as tabletop conversations were chronicled in order to be addressed. “We intend to have more meetings such as that,” Marvel said, noting OPPD’s Brad Underwood addressed a lot of specific questions, “but we recognize this is a complex topic. We will continue to have community interaction and transparency with the public.” He encourages the public to go to www.oppdcommunityconnect.com for project updates and community information.
