YORK COUNTY – York County Clerk Kelly Turner says two people have applied for consideration to be the next District 2 York County Commissioner. This seat is current vacant, due to the unexpected death of Commissioner Woody Ziegler in December.
Turner said the applicants are Tony Cain and LeRoy Ott. They will be interviewed in a public meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 16, at 5 p.m., in the York County Commissioners’ meeting room on the main floor of the courthouse. Presiding over the meeting will be the county clerk, county treasurer and county attorney, as is required by state law. The panel of three will interview the candidates and they have the ability to make their choice following the interviews, if they choose. There is a timeline that has to be followed, as the county has 45 days to fill the seat following the day it was vacated. The person who is chosen to fill the seat will do so for the remainder of the year as this position is also up for election in 2024. The person who is chosen will have to file as an incumbent candidate if they want to continue serving in this capacity for a four-year term starting in 2025. Comments are closed.
