YORK COUNTY – The York County Sheriff’s Department has released the identities of the people killed in the tragic SUV/semi crash at the Highway 81 and Highway 34 East Junction, Friday night, May 25, which claimed three lives. The York County Sheriff’s Department says on Friday, at approximately 8:30 p.m., the collision occurred.
All three were pronounced dead at the scene, according to the YSO. The deceased are: Randall Wheeler, 62, of York; Janniee Wheeler, 69, of York; and Rita Beins, 70, of Lincoln. There were also three additional people who were injured in this accident, the York County Sheriff’s Department says. “All three were transported from the scene with non-life-threatening injuries.” The York County Sheriff’s Department says “preliminary investigation into the collision shows the semi-truck was headed northbound on Highway 81, approaching the Highway 34 East Junction when the SUV pulled out in front of the semi, causing the collision. The investigation into the collision is being conducted by the York County Sheriff’s Department and the Nebraska State Patrol.” York County Sheriff Sgt. Taylor Samek added: “The York County Sheriff’s Department would like to extend our deepest condolences to both the Wheeler and Beins families during this tragic time. We would also like to thank the numerous Good Samaritans who stopped to render aid during the incident.” Comments are closed.
