YORK COUNTY – The York County Sheriff’s Department, along with many local agencies, responded to emergency calls today as a result of the hazardous driving conditions caused by the weather. As reported by the Nebraska State Patrol, slick driving conditions and blowing snow created an issue in many areas of the state. They also provided photos of traffic-related situations on Interstate 80 between Grand Island and Lincoln, to include accidents in York County.
Eastbound Interstate 80 was closed at York due to multiple jack-knifed semis at mile marker 363. The eastbound stretch was reopened after local towing companies were able to clear the scenes. The York County Sheriff’s Department expressed appreciation for assistance from the NSP, the York Police Department, the Nebraska Department of Transportation, Henderson Fire Department, Bradshaw Fire Department, York Fire Department, Mogul’s Towing, Hitz Towing and the York Communications Center for their assistance. As of 3:30 p.m., Christmas Day, York County’s emergency communication’s alerts were notifying residents of an ongoing blizzard warning until 12 a.m., Tuesday. Comments are closed.
