YORK COUNTY – The York County Sheriff’s Department is currently hiring, as there is an open deputy position. The York County Sheriff's Department is currently staffed by 26 full-time employees including patrol, clerks and corrections. York County is located between Lincoln and Grand Island on interstate 80. The York County Sheriff's Office prides itself in providing its deputies with state-of-the-art equipment and an employee-friendly work environment. Nebraska certified law enforcement officers are preferred. All applicants will be considered. The application process will involve submittal of the employment application, intensive background investigation, and an interview. Applicants must be 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license, no felony or serious misdemeanor convictions, be of good moral character and be in good physical condition. Uncertified applicants must be able to meet the minimum standards for entrance into the NLETC. Benefits include individual health insurance, paid vacation, sick leave, holiday pay, overtime, and comp time, take-home patrol vehicle and county retirement program. Dental, vision and family insurance are available at the cost of the employee. York County provides uniforms, leather gear, firearm and body armor. Shifts can vary but most are 12-hour shifts with every other weekend off. Starting hourly rate is between $29.00/hr. - $34.00/hr., depending on certification, experience and successfully completing a probationary period.
