YORK COUNTY – The York County Sheriff’s Department, starting today (Wednesday, Aug. 16), is participating in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” enforcement campaign. This campaign is sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office through Sept. 4.
Extra deputies will be out on patrol specifically looking for impaired drivers on the roadways of York County. York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka said, “Impaired driving is a growing problem in Nebraska and is something that is routinely encountered by deputies in York County. One of the deadliest and most often committed – yet preventable – of crimes (impaired driving) – has become a serious safety epidemic in our country and York County is not immune.” During this enforcement campaign, the YSO encourages the public to report suspected impaired drivers to the YSO at 402-362-4927 or in the case of an emergency call 911.
