York County Sheriff’s Department receives grant for year-long enforcement and outreach program11/6/2023
YORK COUNTY – The York County Sheriff’s Department recently applied for and has now received grant funding through the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office’s Special Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). According to Sergeant Taylor Samek of the YSO, “this funding is for selective overtime enforcement and education in the areas of impaired driving, occupant protection, speed, distracted driving and general traffic enforcement. This funding will allow the sheriff’s department to have additional deputies out conducting traffic enforcement in our communities throughout the year. It also will help with bringing educational programs concerning traffic-related issues to area schools, businesses and community groups.”
Sergeant Samek said the YSO will be doing ongoing outreach programs throughout the year, throughout the community. And they are encouraging interested parties/organizations/institutions to contact them regarding those opportunities with the YSO. “If you are a representative of an area school, business or community group and would like a presentation from the York County Sheriff’s Office on a traffic-related issue, feel free to contact us at 402-362-4927.” Comments are closed.
