YORK COUNTY – The York County Sheriff’s office has concluded its extra enforcement effort on Highway 81, which took place during the month of March. YSO Sergeant Taylor Samek said during the campaign, “deputies contacted 118 motorists, resulting in four felony arrests, five DUI (alcohol) arrests and two DUI (drug) arrests. Along with the arrests, 40 citations were issued for various offenses, including minor in possession of alcohol, open container, speeding, stop sign violations and other traffic-related offenses.”
Sergeant Samek said further, “We received a lot of positive feedback from members of the public regarding the campaign. The funding for this overtime traffic enforcement campaign is provided by the Special Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP), sponsored by the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office. “As always, we encourage the public to report suspected impaired or distracted drivers to the YSO at 402-362-4927.” Comments are closed.
