YORK COUNTY – This week, York County Sheriff’s Sergeants Korey Goplin and Taylor Samek, who are K-9 handlers, hosted Nebraska Police Service Dog Program Administrator Mike Kerby. Kerby, a retired Nebraska State Patrol Trooper, is considered “a police service dog guru of sorts,” according to the YSO, traveling the country while working and training K-9s since 1988.
Kerby is currently an instructor at the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center. He observed, worked with and evaluated York County K-9s Loki and Justice, in the areas of narcotics detection and obedience. YSO officials say Kerby was extremely impressed with the York County K-9 program. Sergeants Goplin and Samek said they wanted to thank “the McCool Junction Volunteer Fire Department and surrounding departments for allowing our K-9 handlers to utilize their facilities for training purposes.” Comments are closed.
