YORK COUNTY — Sergeant Taylor Samek was recently recognized as the Nebraska Drug Recognition Expert of the Year. A Drug Recognition Expert, or DRE, is a specially trained law enforcement officer who focuses on arresting drug impaired drivers. There are currently less than 100 DREs in the State of Nebraska, according to state officials.
Last year, Sgt. Samek arrested more than 30 drug impaired drivers and an additional 30 alcohol impaired drivers on roadways in York County. DRE of the Year is the highest honor bestowed on only one expert in the Nebraska DRE program. York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka said, “We are very proud of Sgt. Samek’s hard work and his dedication to keeping York County’s roads safe from impaired drivers. Please help us in congratulating Sgt. Samek on this accomplishment.” Comments are closed.
