YORK – After months of work and weeks of conversation, as well as a LB644 tax asking public hearing and a separate hearing for the budget itself, the York County budget for the 2023-24 fiscal year has been passed. 

YORK COUNTY – There will be a whole lot of signage work going on in York County in the near future, as the county has signed an agreement to accept a huge amount of stop signs, “stop ahead” signs, posts and other pertinent installation equipment, thanks to a state program. 

YORK – Due to the county having a tax asking increase of 6.87% this year, York County officials were required to hold a LB644/Statute 77-1631 hearing Monday night, Sept. 18. 

YORK – When the York County Commissioners convene in regular session on Tuesday, Sept. 19, they will discuss conducting a wage study regarding all the county positions. 

YORK – Next Monday, Sept. 18, at 6:01 p.m., a special hearing will be held in the basement of the courthouse, during which a presentation of information regarding the county’s tax asking for the 2023-24 fiscal year will take place. 

YORK – An investigation is ongoing after an inmate at the York County Jail was found deceased over the weekend. 

YORK – York County Treasurer Megan Williams wants to remind York County property owners that unpaid 2022 personal and real estate taxes are now delinquent.

YORK COUNTY – Both York County Commissioner Chairman Randy Obermier and York County Emergency Communications Director Leila Luft have said the county “dodged a bullet” this past weekend when the county’s 911 phone lines remained active despite a major outage experienced by other agencies due to a fire at the Windstream data center in Lincoln. 

YORK COUNTY – York County will have to hold a “pink postcard hearing” this month, because the proposed budget creates a more-than-2% growth in tax asking.
