​YORK – The York County Commissioners are considering making changes when it comes to the providers of internet and phone services for all the county departments. 

​YORK – While all the York County Commissioners seem to be in favor of creating an adult diversion program here, they want to wait until the next fiscal year as the expense was not included in the current budget. 

YORK – Shock and sadness was experienced by many this past weekend upon the news of the sudden passing of York County Commissioner Woody Ziegler. 

​YORK – During this week’s regular meeting of the York County Commissioners, the board met with Bill Lundy who was representing York County Mutual Aid, regarding a communications tower located near McCool Junction. 

YORK – While the York County Commissioners say they fully understand the county’s role in paying for indigent defendants’ legal fees, when the public defender’s office can’t due to conflict of interest, they still remain concerned about certain attorneys holding the full bills until a case is closed – which means the county has to face sudden, unexpected large bills. 

YORK – Apparently a number of people have been dumping their garbage and debris in county road ditches, when the waste, appliances, tires, etc., should be taken to the landfill. 

YORK – Scam artists are alive and well, doing their best to fraudulently steal money and identities from unsuspecting people, all year round. But they use even more creative tactics/scenarios during the holidays and York County Sheriff Paul Vrkba wants to warn people about scam attempts going on now. 

​YORK – Interested candidates will soon be able to start filing their intentions for the Primary Election, pertaining to local positions. 

YORK – With a relatively light agenda for Tuesday, Dec. 12, two topics headlining the meeting for the York County Commissioners will be in regard to diversion programs. 

​YORK COUNTY — Sergeant Taylor Samek was recently recognized as the Nebraska Drug Recognition Expert of the Year.
