YORK – York University students had the opportunity to visit with representatives of the county, city and all types of businesses during the recent job fair held on campus.

YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office has issued a warning about a new scam, happening now, in which callers claim there are active warrants for those receiving the calls.

YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office recently applied for and received grant funding through the Nebraska Department of Transportation Highway Safety Office’s Special Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP).
The York County Sheriff’s Office is encouraging traffic safety during harvest season.
“As harvest season is in full swing, our country roads are busier with farm equipment, grain trucks, and local traffic. Please remember: • Slow down and give yourself extra time on rural routes. • Be patient when sharing the road with farm equipment—many can’t travel at highway speeds. • Watch for turns into fields and driveways, which may come up suddenly. • Stay alert at intersections, as tall crops can block visibility. Your patience and caution help keep our farmers, families and neighbors safe during this busy time of year. Let’s all do our part to ensure everyone makes it home safely this harvest season.” YORK – The York County Sheriff’s Office participated in the Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaign between Aug. 16 and Sept. 1. During this time frame, according to Sgt. Taylor Samek, “extra deputies were out looking for impaired drivers during the Labor Day travel period.
YORK – York County Sheriff Paul Vrbka has announced he will not be seeking reelection next year and is endorsing York County Sheriff Captain Josh Gillespie in next year’s election cycle.
YORK – One of the most successful K9 officers in the history of the York County Sheriff’s Office is retiring after six years of service.
